| I'm having a problem with my car where it feels sluggish and won't boost properly. When I floor it, the RPM climbs much slower than normal, and while the gauge indicates that the boost is building, it's not nearly as powerful as it should be. This problem existed even before I did work on my car. I'd be driving, and sometimes it would have power while other times it would not. When it was sluggish I could turn off the ignition and start it back up and it would be fine again. Then the problem would eventually occur again. It seems that the time between problems got shorter and shorter until it was rare that my car had the proper responsiveness. Some details: 1. It would usually do this right off the bat- it's not like the car sensed detonation and would go into safety boost, it would be in safety boost as soon as I started the car and let it warm up. 2. Connecting a brand new Nissan det sensor did not help matters. I wanted to see if it was the sensor, so I plugged in a new sensor. The problem is still there. 3. Sometimes I would get an error code while other times I don't. The second (new and unrelated) problem I have is that my car seems to have an intermittent idle surge. Sometimes it does it while other times it does not. I replaced the IACV and the other solenoid that raises RPM for warm up, and that stopped the car from stalling when the idle starts loping. One strange thing is that when I drive it while it's surging, I can feel the surge even when I'm in gear. It's as if it's still doing it in the background but the RPM won't fluctuate since the car is in gear. I hooked the car up to Nissan Datascan and I can see that the TPS signal is OK, that isn't fluctuating at idle. The car did leave me stranded once and I couldn't rev more than 2000 rpms, which makes me suspect that one of the MAFs is faulty. But then it started working again. I have 2 of them connected to a Selin MAF translator. I'm running out of ideas so any help is appreciated.
